Sometimes the simplest recipes are the best recipes. This particular supper only has four ingredients (you can add more), but works really well. My parents and I really enjoyed this full-of-flavor feast.
🍗 The Amish and Cream Cheese
Cream cheese, found in the refrigerated cases of most grocery stores, hasn't historically been something used in Amish cooking. Most Amish have grown their own food and bought the rest of what they need at the local bulk food store. But as shopping habits have been changing among the Amish and trips to Walmart and Kroger are as common as the bulk food store, cream cheese has become a favorite among the Amish.
The delicious spreadable cheese is used in:
- casseroles
- chicken dishes
- spread on bread
- desserts

📋 Step-By-Step Bacon-Wrapped Cream Cheese Chicken
Bacon and a block of cream cheese are two of the key ingredients in this meal. Keep the cream cheese out for maybe half hour before preparing the recipe to make it more spreadable.
Use a fork to mix up the cream cheese and the green onion. And if you want to add other spices here: black pepper, garlic powder, season salt, or anything else, do it here at this step!
Spread the cream cheese mixture on chicken breasts. You may need to split the chicken breasts in half horizontally to make them thinner if you are dealing with really thick breasts.
Fold the chicken, wrap in bacon, and then secure with a toothpick.
Pro Tip: Take the toothpicks out before you put the bacon-wrapped breast on your plate. That way you won't do what I did and forget about the toothpick and only discover it after it is in your mouth. You don't want to choke on a toothpick!
